Capture = (1) the act of taking a person forcibly; succeed in catching or seizing, especially after a chase; make someone a prisoner: ‘That day they captured twenty enemy soldiers.’ ‘We finally captured the suspect’. ‘The leader of the resistance group was captured and executed.’ (2) Attract: ‘She captured hearts of all the men’. (3) Take possession of something by force: ‘The militia captured the castle.’
Captivate = strongly attract and impress someone: ‘She was captivated by his charm.’
