Lighted

Lighted (as verb) = make lighter or brighter: ‘It was dark inside so I lit a match.’

Lighted (as adjective) = set a fire or burning: ‘The lighted candles’

In British English, the usual past tense and past participle form of light is lit: ‘He lit a cigarette.’ Lighted is mainly used before a noun: ‘He was holding a lighted cigarette.’
